Training steps up! |
24-01-10 |
| |
The 'running department' had their first opportunity to train together as 1 team in January, with some excellent routes across the rolling hills of Bath - check out the team's pace at the following link
Also in January Tim and Ben took part in the Helly Hansen - Porridge Pot or bust challenge, a 10k run, 25k mountain bike and a 1.5k Kayak - they found the going tough, but made it through in a very respectable time - on the left is a picture of the team crossing the finish line - nice spandex!
Other events coming up in Feb & March, include; the Bermuda end-to-end, 1 or 2 5-10k events and the usual 15-20 miles per week winter training sessions (oh joy!)

Keep tabs on the team |

| |
The team for 2010 have shown early signs of commitment to the cause with a few minor updates to the website.
Most notably you will see that each team member now has a direct link to their own just-giving page. This makes it easier than ever before to for you to show your support and securely sponsor the team, you can also keep track on how close the team is to their target sponsorship.
So please head to the team page and sponsor one of the guys today!
Also in the pipeline is a team member blog where you can keep track of each team member's progress leading up to the event AND (if we can figure it out), even keep you posted DURING the event - WATCH THIS SPACE...... |

Bring on 2010 |
15-08-2009 |
| |
Yes that's right, after a year out, the 4peaksake.com team announce their "un-official"return to the event in 2010.
Whilst the captain returns for what will be his 6th attempt on the mountains, the rest of the team is likely to receive quite a shake up. Bakewell and Stork sadly have fended away all attempts (so far!) to persuade them to return in 2010 and if the team's record of biting, chewing and spitting out every single driver is anything to go by, we shan't be seeing the return of Ippy or Weasel in the driving seat.
It's not all doom and gloom, in fact the outlook is bright - Mr Benjamin Jenkins, athlete extraordinaire who put his hand in for last year's "no-show" team is keen as mustard to take part in the 2010 showing - learn more about this magnificent fellow on our team page.
So that just leaves 1 drivers slot and 1 final runners slot, with preparation already underway, we're confident that this year can be the team's best yet! |

A successful campaign |

Without a doubt the 2008 4 peaks campaign has been the toughest yet for the team. With trials and tribulations both on and off the mountains it is a wonder that the team made it through at all.
With an excellent team spirit, 2nd to no other team before, the 2008 team not only pulled through, but they did it by breaking records too!
With 3 personal best times and equally their 5th place overall standing the team can certainly hold their heads up high.
Bringing home the Hellvelyn award and for the first time in their history, the Drivers Challenge bowl award at the first time of asking (well done Ippy)
Our sincere thanks to our family, friends, sponsors and supporters without whom this would not have been possible. The team raised £4,500 which contributed to the overall event fundraising total which exceeded £300,000!
Whatever the team had to personally endure to compete & finish in 2008 is a small price to pay for the satisfaction of competing in the event and in supporting such a worth while cause.
But will they be back??? |
